WXCRL QinetiQ Saturday Circuit 2010 (1/5)
The first WXCRL event of the season kicked off with the sun beaming down on Dave Pickering - Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers and Steve Dring - Team Echelon/Spiuk who took the Regional B and National B races respectively.
Dave won in classic solo style and said "[I've been] hoping to get that elusive win for years now and it feels great to achieve it".
A special mention has to go out to Emma Dews - Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers who grabbed 10th place in the Regional B sprint finish. Emma rode confidently and contributed throughout, well done Emma!
Steve Dring (Dringo) started as he did in 2009 by taking the National B race in a 3 up sprint finish.
See a video of both race finishes, and more, here on our WXCRL YouTube Channel.

WXCRL 2010 Points Table now online
The 2010 WXCRL Points Table is now up and running and headed by Dave Pickering and Steve Dring after 1 event. If your name is highlighted in yellow then it means you'll need to join the league to claim the points!
The table is automatically updated when I get around to editing it, which is usually a day or so after the event. You can find both the 2009 and 2010 WXCRL Points Table permanent links on Entryweb here.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes (or not)
The league is pretty much structured the same as last year. Club/Team affiliation fees remain the same at £50.00, however our membership fee has risen to £20.00 which represents a contribution of just over £1 per event - in our view still extremely good value!
Those of you who rode at Barnsfield Heath last Saturday might have noticed an extra few laps in your legs. We've increased both races to 90mins each, which seems to be an agreeable distance many riders seem to be happy with. Any less and the legs might not be warmed up enough but not long enough to really start stretching you!
Due to low numbers, costs and contractual constraints at Barnsfield Heath the decision was taken not to continue with Youth racing at WXCRL events at the facility this year.
Did you know that there are more than a dozen different courses we can now use for our senior races at Barnsfield? If you haven't raced there yet it’s widely regarded to be one of the best off-the-road closed road circuits in the country. Please ride and keep it alive!
What hasn't changed is the need for marshals and drivers for our road races, so please step forward and lend a hand. To do so please use the 'contact organiser form' on all Entryweb event pages. Helpers as in 2009 will be awarded 5 WXCRL points for their efforts - what a deal!
